Epic SLO Family Reunion
SUMMER 2024 - NOW
BRIEF
At the beginning of 2024, I had a dream to organize a reunion for my college fellowship, Epic Movement San Luis Obispo. When I first joined this club as a freshman, I was so blessed to meet older brothers and sisters in this community who took me under their wing. They drove me around to buy groceries, played basketball with me every night, and were always available to talk whenever I needed a friend. After they graduated, we continued to stay in touch, but over time, they slowly opened up to me about the difficulties of adjusting to post-grad life. Some of them struggled to find jobs, others struggled with their faith, but one common thread was that they struggled to find a community like they had at Epic SLO. Hearing their stories, I wanted to create a space where they could reunite with their friends, be appreciated and encouraged, and ultimately be reminded of their worth.
MISSION STATEMENT
BRAINSTORM
In addition to organizing the event, I’m also responsible for designing the social media content to promote it. From the jump, I wanted the reunion’s visual identity to evoke a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and joy. Photos are a powerful way to communicate these emotions, so in every design, I included images that captured fun, meaningful, and memorable moments throughout Epic SLO’s history.
COLOR PALETTE
The color palette for the event is inspired by the royal homecomings of old. Just like kings and queens, the alumni are returning home, and these colors are celebratory and reflect our deep respect and appreciation for them. The yellow hue is derived from the bright, decorative flowers often seen at these celebrations, and it adds extra warmth and life to the designs. The dark navy hue has a higher color-contrast value than the purple hue, so it is used for more important pieces of text and to create further visual hierarchy.
TYPOGRAPHY
For the visual identity, I selected two typefaces: New Spirit Condensed and Omnes. New Spirit Condensed is an elegant yet approachable font, ideal for large titles and subheadings. Omnes is a clean, geometric typeface with large, open counters, perfect for body text and smaller details.

RESULTS
The event is happening on February 15th, so this project is still a work-in progress! Over 150 students and alumni signed up to attend the event, so it should be a fun-filled and memorable night. Will update this page soon.
